| Cost
of living/ Living in America The cost
of living in the United States varies tremendously
depending on the location and also other factors.
While some employers might offer complimentary
living arrangements, most participants will have
to pay for their own room. However, most may find
it more exciting to live in a metropolitan area.
Rent will vary depending on the location and type
of residence:while it might be easier to find
a higher paying employment in larger cities, the
rent will respectively also be higher (average
cost about $300 monthly) On average residential
utilities would amount to $10-50 monthly. You
should expect spending $200 monthly on food (about
$6 per meal).
Group Flights
American Cultural Exchanges
(ACE) does not arrange group flights. You will
be free to purchase your own air tickets at the
best prices you can find.
Group flights are too restrictive and frequently
are not the lowest priced flights therefore we
give you the option to fly when you want, where
you want and on the airline you want.
Visas
Note: US law mandates
that the US Embassy charge a reciprocal processing
fee to citizens of countries that charge US citizens
a processing fee to obtain visas for entry. So,
depending on the passport you are holding, you
may be required to pay an additional processing
fee to the US Consulate. Your American
Cultural Exchanges (ACE) Local Representative
/ Partner Organisation will let you know if this
applies to you.
Visa application forms are available at U.S.
consulates
and embassies, or you can download them from
the U.S. Department of State Web site at http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_1750.html

Recruitment
Fairs
American Cultural Exchanges
(ACE) may be organising a number of Recruitment
Fairs in several countries. These are ideal
opportunities for you to meet with a US employer
and gain a summer Placement on the day.
These are not 'walk-in' Fairs - you have
to be invited and in order to be invited,
you must made a formal application to American
Cultural Exchanges (ACE). The earlier
you apply - the greater your chance of being
invited as we only issue a limited number
of invitations.
